Pulaar Speaking Association is pioneering the social age! Created in 1989, the organization is dedicated to serve voluntarily. It also devotes talent to building a strong community that contributes to better global society. Pottital Ful6e USA is a cultural festival that PSA created to highlight Fulani culture and its community members’ contribution and involvement in the United States. PSA sections in different states will compete in the following areas:

Memphis 2019 Morso/July 3 -- Morso/July 7

For the first time ever in the history of Pulaar Speaking Association, a biyearly festival Pottital Ful6e USA will be celebrated. It is quite an accomplishment for this young organization to raise people’s awareness about the importance of Fulani culture. Pottital Ful6e USA provides ample opportunity to highlight Fulani culture, language, and communities in the United States of America and around the world. Baaba Maal, Diddal Jaalal, Demba e Bojel (Hady Gadio and Sokhna Ba), Alioune Guisse, Daouda Dieye, Macky Diop, Ba Djibril Ngawa, and many more will be in action during the festival. The festival will award three big titles. Lefol Baaba Legnol/ Murtodo Award, Lefol Baaba Maal/Baaba Maal Award and Kuppu Gaye Amadou Malick/ GAM Trophy. These recognitions cover respectively the fields of education, Art and Music and Sports.

Sections of PSA represented in different states will compete for days for the crown in the aforementioned fields.

Festival Kickoff Event

Pulaar Speaking Association will be honoring the City of Memphis and Shelby County leaders. Officials expected to attend the event include the Governor of Tennessee and many representatives of local businesses such as FedEx, Amazon, Technicolor, Sam’s Club, Walmart, and many more.

Festival Awards

Lefol Baaba Lenol/Murtodo Award

Lefol Baaba Lenol is the highest honor competing PSA sections can receive in this contest. Sections’ schools are facing off in Pulaar language mastery, including grammar and dictation.

Lefol Baaba Maal/Baaba Maal Award

This award is given to the winner of the cultural (pinal) contest. Participating PSA sections are competing in drama, choir, and dance.

Kuppu Gaye Amadou Malick GAM Trophy

The winner of the soccer tournament is awarded Kuppu Gaye Amadou Malick. Pulaar Speaking Association participating teams come from different states in the US to compete for this highest trophy of the tournament.

Lefol Baaba Legnol/Murtodo Award

Mamadou Samba Diop AKA Murtodo dedicated his life to the advancement of Pulaar. His commitment won him the nickname “Baaba Lenol”, literally meaning the Father of the Fulani ethnic group. The award is created to celebrate his contribution to developing Pulaar and raising awareness about its importance.

Lefol Baaba Maal/Baaba Maal Award

Baaba Maal is a living legend. This African icon has represented the Fulani culture and the Pulaar language around the world. Pulaar Speaking created this award in recognition of his valuable contribution. Lefol Baaba Maal is awarded every other year during the festival Pottital Ful6e USA.

Kuppu Gaye Amadou Malick GAM Trophy

Like his mentee Mamadou Samba Diop, Gaye Amadou Malick worked behind the scene for the transcription of Pulaar. He also trained late Pr. Saidou Kane to bring him to the cause
